Mental Health First Aid Training

Accredited mental health first aid training for Leicestershire and the surrounding areas

What is mental health first aid training?

Mental health has become a prevalent issue globally as more people become aware of its importance. It has to do with an individual’s emotional well-being, state of mind, and ability to deal with stressful situations. It’s estimated that in the UK 1 in 4 people will experience mental health issues within their lifetime. This can be for various reasons, including stress from the workplace, past experiences, family bereavement etc., and these issues could be experienced in the short or long-term. As a result, mental health care has become a priority, making it vital for personnel within the healthcare sector to go through mental health first aid training.

Mental health first aid training equips people with skills that will help them quickly identify signs of deteriorating mental health and respond appropriately to them. This training enables you to understand those who experience mental health issues so you can support them and help them with other situations such as substance abuse, a panic attack, depression, etc.

The need to promote positive mental health

Promoting mental health requires a conscious effort in the workplace, schools, individually and in the community. Doing this provides several benefits such as:

Improving productivity at work and in school
Boosting your quality of life and self-esteem
Reducing the rate of suicides
Helping you to manage stressful situations better
Enhancing interpersonal relationships
Lowering crime rates
Reducing the stigma around mental health issues

 Who is this training for?

Anyone can be a mental health first aider once trained. Whether you’re a concerned neighbour or family member, a teacher, staff member, business owner, etc., you qualify to take this training. Having a desire to make a difference and promote mental health awareness is enough basis for enrolling in the mental health first aid training.
