Training with the Leicestershire Training Team
The Leicestershire Training Team provides a PEG Care and Feeding Training Course that is aimed at healthcare professionals who are already competent or new in the area of enteral feeding tubes. The course provides learners with the knowledge they need to work effectively and safely with patients who require Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) feeding. The course is CPD accredited by the CPD UK Accreditation Service.
The course covers topics such as learning outcomes, practical sessions to ensure sufficient knowledge to work with peg feeds, procedures for feeding and administering medications, recognising, dealing with and reporting complications, effective mouth care and what to do if the feeding tube is accidentally removed. The Leicestershire Training Team emphasises that learners must be aware of the importance of correct assessment prior to feeding tube insertion in order to ensure appropriate feeding and medication administration. Learners are also expected to be able to recognise complications associated with peg feeding as well as the processes for dealing with them and reporting them. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will have gained sufficient knowledge to work effectively and safely with patients who require PEG feeds.

NEBULISER & INHALER TRAINING
It's very common to come across a nebuliser working in the healthcare setting. Knowing what to do, how to use and clean the machine is essential. Nebulisers are medication administering machines and people should be trained on how to use them effectively.
SYRINGE DRIVER TRAINING
Our half a day syringe driver course updates you on the McKinley T34 pump or BD Bodyguard T pump, the only syringe driver used in Leicestershire. Our course covers what a syringe driver is, when to use one, how to prepare the medication, setting up the pump, undergoing safety checks, changing the syringe when in use, inserting the Saf T or butterfly needle and much more.
VNS AWARENESS TRAINING
Sometimes people experiencing a seizure will require staff to use their VNS to ensure they remain safe. Using a VNS device should only be undertaken by a trained person. With our VNS Awareness training, your staff will learn how to do this safely.
CATHETERISATION TRAINING

With a registered nurse conducting this half-day session, you get to refresh your knowledge on why and how to catheterise a male, female and supra-pubic patients. MANUAL EVACUATION & SUPPOSITORY TRAINING
This half a day course covers how to adminster an enema or suppository and includes how to manually evacuate someone's bowels if required. This course is for both professional nurses and for healthcare assistants.
